Part Two: Improvisers Aged 16 to 30

It has been six months since this event, and I have finally gotten around to uploading the rest of the footage. (For more info on the original event, check out the June and July entries.) Below you will find the following:

The day I spent with Hannah and Dan behind my house - film
This video was conceived, improvised, shot and edited in three short hours in preparation for "Improvisers Aged 16 to 30," as part of The Raw and the Cooked series. I met Hannah Krauth and Dan Bun at Deerfield Academy Summer Arts Camp (DASAC), where they engaged in several performance art experiments co-led by myself and the venerable Chris Dale, Andy Vernon-Jones, and Keo Bun.

**OK THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE UPLOADED THIS THING AND EACH TIME IT TURNS INTO WEIRD VIDEO FEEDBACK, WHICH IS ACTUALLY PRETTY NICE... NOT WHAT WE MADE BUT WHILE I TROUBLE-SHOOT, ENJOY -T

Improvisers Aged 16 to 30 - Lobby and Installation
This video shows a small exhibit in the lobby of "Improvisers Aged 16 to 30," which took place at The Tank in NYC in July 2008. Photographer and teacher Andy Vernon-Jones created the video with his students. August Musings

After a long summer, The Raw and the Cooked is back on Wednesday, Aug 27th at 9pm. Performers will include "raw" performance by: Mark Drahozal, Ted Johnson, Leah Nelson, Marion Ramirez, Jung Woong Kim, Johnny Butler, Ryan Snow, Jake Wise, Kenny Auyeung, Adam Schniet, Ezra Tenenbaum, and Jake Jeffries; and a little something "cooked" by myself and Hannah Verrill. This show will take place at DCTV, third floor.

As a side, I would like to mention that there is going to be quite an interesting performance this Sunday, Aug 31st at the Manhattan Children's Theater (52 White Street) by Irina Danilova. She will be shaving her head as part of a series of shavings that occur every four years. The performance will include live video mixing and some other surprises. For her services and insight, Ms. Danilova will be charging $5.99. I don't know about you, but I am intrigued...

The Tank moves to DCTV, and other stuff

So it's nearing the end of the long month of August, which proved to be an eventful one for The Tank. The infamous mold and sewage issue that was "hush hush" a month ago has now become another anecdote in the saga of The Tank's history. We have moved on to greener pastures (see image left)

DCTV (www.dctvny.org) is a funky firehouse on Lafayette Street and White Street. It has a really cool raw space on the ground level. We are fixing it up with some lights and I am even looking into some portable dance floor options. It could really fix up quite nicely.

The next The Raw and the Cooked is at 9pm on Wednesday, Aug 27th at DCTV. There will be some brand new people, and some old faces, as always.

I have been laboriously trying up upload the videos from Improvisers 16 to 30 for nearly a month. No internet connection is quite fast enough for the file transfer... all in due time.
